Mary Jones Soda: Root Beer
The edibles game has been changed up in a massive way! I remember when the first few soda edibles came out and I kept thinking to myself “I wonder when a soda company is going to team up with a farm and work on something together”. Well it didn’t take too long, and we in Washington got a treat like no other. Washington’s famous Jones Soda teamed up with Ray’s Lemonade to make some of the most fun, and tasty drinks on the market today. Not only are they tasty, but they are effective too. So come along as we dive deeper into the deliciousness that is Mary Jones: Root Beer.
History of Jones Soda:
Jones Soda was created in the mid 1990’s and has run out of Seattle since the early 2000’s. The company has gone through many changes over time, but has remained a Seattle staple since moving here for producing and distributing. One of the things that makes Jones so unique is their desire to stay connected to their customer base. You can send them ideas for flavors, you can send them picture ideas for their bottles, save up your bottle caps for merch from their store, and so much more! This is a truly unique company and one that has their consumers heart in mind. So even if you’re out and about shopping or at lunch somewhere, consider grabbing a Jones Soda (infused or not) if it’s available. You’ll be glad you did.
History of Ray’s Lemonade:
Ray’s Lemonade is a company that has a WSDA-Approved infusion facility over on the northeast side of Washington. They have some of the purest and cleanest tasting liquid edibles that are equally as great in terms of effectiveness. Ray’s Lemonade has seven different flavors available. With a plethora of options, I’m sure you will be able to find the perfect choice!
With all of that in mind, let’s get on to the product review!
Presentation:
The can for Mary Jones sticks out more than any other one I’ve seen. With it’s large groovy font that leads into the classic Jones name, it gives off the idea that this is a beverage for those who grew up drinking this throughout their childhood, just with a little kick. Some of the little things they did that were nice were putting the Seattle skyline around the top of the can, instead of a picture on the front, it’s a small window of aluminum with a caption that says “Objects in mirror are higher than they appear”.
Packaging:
The packaging is pretty straight forward, but there is a couple small things people may want to know. The cap at the top is your serving cup. It may take a little bit of time to get the top off depending on how you go about it, but once you get it, it’s smooth sailing after. Once you get past the cup, there is a small lid that you have to break a seal on to be able to start pouring/drinking. This lid that is slideable will reseal your drink so the carbonation will stay inside and you can take your time with your drink! Convenience is key am I right?!
Taste:
The Taste of this product is pretty unbelievable! I’ve been having edibles in drink forms for many years, and this has got to be one of the first that I was able to truly focus on and enjoy what I was drinking. The fact that this truly tastes just like the Jones Soda root beer and not like something that has cannabis in it is crazy to think. This soda doesn’t have one of those heavy/thick syrup like textures or tastes to it. It’s smooth, flavorful, and draws all the notes of a classic root beer.
The high:
The high from these drinks can range from person to person. I personally did this two different times to help me really get in the mind frame for this. I tried the 10 mg THC drink, and while it didn’t do too much for me personally with a mental high, I did feel my muscles relax a bit while I was able to do things. Afterwards, I tried the 100 mg THC drink. That one did a bit more for me in comparison to the 10 mg THC drink. With the 100 mg one, I was able to focus, I felt more creative, and I mentally and physically felt more relaxed.
Overall:
I would personally put Mary Jones as my favorite drinkable edible. The high is consistent, it tastes great, and it’s local! I grew up drinking Jones Soda, so to see it become something that has a 21+ version just shows that they have grown along with their consumers.
As always, it’s a crazy world out there. Take care of yourself, look out for others, make someone laugh, make yourself happy, pack a bowl and watch time fly.
Until next time, Patrick
